James: Just a Fan Saying Hello

Hi, Bob,

I just came across your website and wanted to say hello. I'm a huge fan of Supertramp and have been since I was a teenager. There are a lot of excellent bands out there, but not all of them are as truly distinct and wonderful quite like Supertramp is. It's hard for me to quantify exactly what makes Supertramp's music timeless and endlessly appealing, but I suppose that's OK. I love listening to Supertramp, especially when I'm driving. It's so enjoyable to sing-along and drum on my steering wheel to.

When it comes to Supertramp's fanbase, I'm on the younger side - as such, I never had the opportunity to see you perform live. However, the live videos that I am able to find online work to satisfy that - you all sounded absolutely fantastic in your live shows!

I also really enjoy the Sierra On-Line Space Quest III soundtrack that you composed. I first learned about Space Quest III from a popular YouTuber's video on the Roland MT-32. Soon after, I found out that the soundtrack was composed by you and was immediately awe-struck. The soundtrack when played in the Roland MT-32 sounds incredible.

Your music continually and consistently makes me happy. I am posting here simply to show my appreciation.

Thank you and best wishes,
James

Roger : Supertramp 1974 memory

Hello sir , I’m much honored to be able to write to you directly through the email I found on your website. I would be much more honored if you’d be kind to allow me some of your time to read this little story and maybe have a word about it :-)

My name is Roger , I was born in 1962 .  I have a dear memory about Supertramp but it happened some 57 years ago that I would like to know if it’s real or if I’m “nothing but a dreamer “ :-)  Here is the story :    France , back in 1974/1975 : I lived in the tiny port of Le Croisic (44490) . It’s located along the coast, in the west part of France ( near the Brittany region  ) .  Le Croisic was , and still is , a tiny city with a population of around 4000 people .   One day , my brother (aged 14 then ) dragged me to our local cinema named «Le Hublot «  because , he said,  a movie was to be played , a movie about an English band ! Two members of the band would be present and would discuss with the public !   Needless to say we were not many people into this small cinema .  The band name was Supertramp , the movie featured their last album «Crime of The Century«.    I was 12 . This afternoon stayed in my mind forever . I remember the movie with the famous album cover . I remember that , after the movie , there was a little chat with some members of the band . My brother , confident with his English even asked a question !! So brave ! :-) . I can even remember the the place and the color of the seats …   I just fell in love with the music .

There was no record shop where we lived , it took some time before I was able to buy “ Crime Of The century”  . But I did about a month later and I still remember where I bought it .

Gustav Schoenberg III: An Autographed pair of sticks

Hi could I buy an autographed pair of your sticks and have you add Supertramp to both . I would like a signed photo to go with that. I'm a 72 year old retired drummer who started a collection of my favorite drummers. Hope to hear back Thank you Gus

Fabian: Thanks for the Music

Hey Bob

I hope you are doing well.  I have been a Supertramp Fan all my life and had the pleasure to meet you in person, and your son  back in 99, after your gig in Zurich, Switzerland - you and the band stayed at the Hotel where I was the Manager. We had a couple drinks at the Hotelbar that night - long time ago, I know. (I remember stories about Bora-Bora and that you had some arguments within the band). Anyway, thanks for this preciouse memory and all the great music. Best, Fabian

Kathryn: Your Name Change

Good Afternoon,

Hello fellow former Glendale resident cool.  I am also from Glendale (born and raised).

My question is:  Why did you change your name from Bob Seinbenberg to Bob C. Benberg.  I recall reading, years ago, that it was because in England Seinbenberg was not a well like name or something to that affect.

While living in Glendale, do you recall a bakery on Glendale Blvd. and Los Feliz called Knudsen's Bakery?  Just curious.

Have a wonderful day.

Kathryn
